access all areas is led by Mark Todd B.E.M., awarded the British Empire Medal by Her Majesty the Queen in recognition of his standing as a global expert in the field of accessibility and inclusion.
He was recently Accessibility Expert to Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and currently advises the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and The International Paralympic Committee.
After being an important part of the Bid team, for five years Mark was lead Accessibility Advisor to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, delivering accessible venues, the Accessible Transport Plan, accessible operating policies, overlay solutions, procurement, ticketing policies and an inclusive volunteer programme.
He is co-author of the IPC Technical Manual on Accessibility and sits on their Global Accessibility Expert Panel. For the last ten years Mark has represented The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on the jury of the IAKS international architecture prize for sports and leisure.
Mark has been a member of both the London and Manchester Olympic and Paralympic Bid teams, advised the Paralympic World Cup and the Games Operations Office of Beijing 2008.
Having played a key role in the disability movement, Mark became the first Access Officer at Manchester City Council overseeing the City Council access programme. This important contribution to the regeneration of the City was recognised in 1995 when he received The Mancunian of the Year Award from civic leaders. In 2001 he created access all areas.
